Winter Is the Wrong Time to Find a Problem

Winter is The wrong time to find  a problem

What to inspect now before cold weather puts your propane bulk plant to the test.

Your propane bulk plant may be running fine today. That does not necessarily mean it is ready for the first stretch of sustained cold weather.

As demand increases, equipment that handled lower summer volumes may soon be running harder and more frequently. A worn hose, underperforming pump, leaking valve, or Emergency Shut-Down (ESD) system issue that is manageable today can become a much bigger problem when demand is high and taking equipment offline is no longer convenient.

The best time to find those problems is before the cold arrives.

Making Room For the Next Generation

Making ROom for the next generation

Mason Denius’ career shows what can happen when young professionals are given the opportunity to learn and lead.

A few years ago, Mason Denius walked into TransTech Energy as a college intern with no background in propane and no expectation that it would become his career.

Today, at 24 years old, he is an Associate Project Manager trusted with customers, complex projects and responsibilities that continue to grow. At any given time, he can have 40 to 50 projects moving through different stages.

His path from intern to project manager happened quickly, but it did not happen by accident. Mason was given the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up, spend time with experienced people in the field and take on more responsibility as his knowledge grew.

Now, he is one of a growing number of young professionals building careers at TransTech Energy, and an example of what can happen when companies make room for the next generation.

Behind the Meter

Behind the meter: On-site power is rewriting the rules, and it all runs on fuel

On-site generation is solving the electricity problem. But the megawatts are only half the story, the other half is fuel.

Somewhere on your facility sits a utility meter. Easy to walk past, but that unassuming box marks the front line of the biggest shift underway in energy: who makes your power, and where. Everything on the utility’s side is “in front of the meter.” Everything on yours is behind it, and behind the meter is suddenly where the action is.

For decades, behind-the-meter power meant a backup generator that coughed to life a few hours a year. No longer. Manufacturers, hospitals, campuses, mining and midstream operations, and, most visibly, data centers are designing on-site generation as primary or supplemental power. Why? Interconnection queues that stretch years. Demand charges that keep climbing. Grid congestion at the worst moments. Uptime the grid can’t promise. On-site generation puts the schedule, reliability, and cost structure back in the owner’s hands, and keeps the facility’s demand off the shared grid, where it would compete with the surrounding community. It’s no longer a workaround. It’s an energy strategy.

Don't Let Summer Heat Shut Down Your Facility

Don't Let Summer Heat Shut Down Your Facility

How LNG and LPG backup fuel systems keep critical operations running when electrical demand is at its highest

Every summer, electrical demand climbs as businesses, manufacturers, hospitals, universities, hotels, and industrial facilities rely heavily on-air conditioning and cooling systems.

Most facilities focus on whether the electric grid can keep up.

The better question is:

"If the power goes out, are you prepared to keep operating?"

For organizations that depend on continuous operations, a reliable backup power strategy is more than an insurance policy. It's a critical part of business continuity.

Is Your Peak Shaving Facility Ready for What's Next?

Why Utilities Are Taking a Fresh Look at Peak Shaving Infrastructure

Unlike many other segments of the natural gas industry, LNG peak shaving facilities represent a relatively small but highly strategic portion of the nation's energy infrastructure. While there are hundreds of LNG facilities across the United States, only a limited number are dedicated to peak shaving operations, making each facility an important asset for the utility or operator it serves.
