LPG/Propane Bulk Storage Plant Maintenance & Repair Services

Written by Admin | Wed, Oct 28, 2026 @ 02:59 PM

Bulk storage and transfer equipment is easy to take for granted until it fails. A stuck valve, a worn pump, or an emergency shutdown system that doesn't respond can stop transfers, create a safety risk, and cost revenue.

The best time to service a bulk plant is while it is still operating, before a critical system fails. Planned maintenance lets you find and fix problems on your schedule instead of during an outage.

Five questions every bulk plant operator should be able to answer

Are your pumps and compressors operating efficiently? Are your bulkheads and transfer-area valves working properly? Are the valves on your bulk tanks leak-free? Does your emergency shutdown system work the way it should? Is your plant in compliance with the current edition of NFPA 58?

If the honest answer to any of these is "not sure," that is where to start.

What changed in NFPA 58

The 2024 edition of NFPA 58, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, includes two changes bulk plant operators should know. The operations and maintenance chapter now includes requirements for purging LP-gas systems into and out of service, so facilities need proper purging procedures and plans. Requirements for emergency remote shutdown devices were consolidated into Chapter 4, so they apply uniformly wherever these devices are required. (source)

States and local authorities adopt new editions on their own timelines. Check with your authority having jurisdiction on which edition applies to your plant.
